Spiritual Roots of
Human Relations

February 3, 2008

"There are a thousand hacking at the branches of evil to one who is striking at the root," (Henry David Thoreau). In order for healthy relationships to develop, you must get to the root of them. It is impossible to decide whether or not to enter into relationships. As a matter of fact, we are in relationship with almost everything. These relationships include people, places, and things, or as I like to say the "nouns" of our life. Think about it, you encounter various "nouns" on a daily basis and no matter what, you cannot decide just to disconnect. You may not be in a good relationship with certain people, with different places or various things but in person, action or in thought you are still inextricably connected.

Ponder this for a moment, we have relationship with people such as in-laws, or for that matter out-laws; people in traffic; and those at work. We even have connection to people we don't know at work because our performance can affect their quality of life.

We are also in relationship with stuff. (Computers, gadgets, cars, flat screens, etc.) The sad fact is that some people are in a more intimate relationship with their TV's than with their spouse. It's true; we have kinship with almost everything. While we may not be able to choose to be, or not to be in relationship with a person, place or thing, God, however, has given use the power to decide the quality of those relationships that we have entered.

The Key to being in right relationship with the "nouns" of our life is balance. This kind of harmony is only forged at the root level. "The roots of the problems we face in the world, in our national life, in our family and personal lives are spiritual." When the problems are spiritually rooted, so are the solutions.

In the series, "The Spiritual Roots of Human Relation", We will discover the Biblical truths to striking a balance in life's relationships. Our series will begin on Sunday, February 3, 2008. Prepare to be transformed through biblical truth and God's grace, in your relationsips and invite as many people as you can to be a part of this awesome journey to freedom.
